Dupre Logistics Opens Knoxville, TN Location, Appoints Manager

by Jake Tully - Published: 9/13/2018

Earlier this week, Louisiana-based transportation company Dupre Logistics announced the opening of its new Strategic Capacity Services branch in the Knoxville, Tennessee area, marking the company’s 12th SCS branch since August 2016.

Dupre Logistics reports that its SCS business group will serve as an asset-based provider of logistics services offering intermodal and transportation management and freight brokerage, under the helm of Chip Hawkins as manager of the Knoxville office.

“It’s the people. I’ve known some of the Dupré folks for a long time. I respect them and the values the company is built on,” said Hawkins. “Dupré is a solid company with a long history of providing extra service — and everything is service in the brokerage industry.”

Dupre Logistics reports that Hawkin’s appointment to manager alongside the Knoxville location will serve the industry well and help the company capture a larger market of business.

“Not only is Knoxville located at the intersection of multiple interstates — Interstate 40 and Interstate 75, it is also centrally located to serve the Southeast. The tremendous industry in the area make it the perfect choice for a Dupré Logistics SCS location,” said Vice President of SCS at Dupré Logistics, Mike Weindel. “We are pleased that Chip Hawkins, who knows the area well, will lead our new office in Knoxville. Chip has 30 years of experience in logistics. We are thrilled he’s joined our team.”

According to Hawkins, the Knoxville office will have four employees working at the location to start, with expectation for quick growth.
“Dupré is in the 3PL sweet spot — we are large enough to have the critical mass to get the job done quickly, safely and in a cost-effective way, but we’re small enough to give every customer the attention needed,” said Weindel. “We’re looking forward to being in Knoxville — it’s a fantastic town with great people.”
