TMCSuperTech Grand Championship Sees FedEx Freight Claim Victories

Earlier this week, the American Trucking Associations’ Technology and Maintenance Council announced FedEx Freight technician Phil Pinter from Ida, Michigan was named as the 2018 Grand Champion for the TMC SuperTech Technician Skills Competition.

Beating 95 finalists in the TMC SuperTech heavy-duty division, Pinter claimed the title of Grand Champion alongside Ferris State University Ian Partek who won the TMc FurutreTech National Student Technician Competition.

"The competitors at TMCSuperTech and TMCFutureTech are a shining example of professional excellence for our entire industry," said ATA President and CEO Chris Spear. "I want to congratulate Philip, Ian, Michael, Troy as well as all of their colleagues and classmates and all of the competitors who demonstrated their immense skills at the competition, and I want to thank them all for what they do to keep our trucks moving."

According to the ATA, FedEx Freight also saw two technicians claim third and fifth positions in the TMC Super Tech Team competition, with 12 of the 20 spots claimed by technicians at the company in the heavy-duty competition.

Robert Brasswell, TMC Executive Director reports that holding these competitions is important for the industry in showing professionalism and dedication from some of the unsung heroes of trucking.

"For 14 years, TMC has tried to shine a light on the professionalism and dedication of our industry's technicians through TMCSuperTech, and once again we have seen these men and women perform exceptionally – especially Philip, Ian, Michael, Troy and all our station winners," said Braswell. "At a time when we are desperately looking to recruit and retain talent, all of our TMCSuperTech and TMCFutureTech competitors – but especially our winners give us all a standard to strive for so congratulations to them."
