And the word today is that the trucking industry helped drive him all the way to his final win.

According to surveys conducted by Overdrive, an overwhelming 75% of truck drivers (both owner-operators and company drivers) who responded, said they were planning to vote for Trump hands down over Clinton. In addition to getting the popular vote from truck drivers, Trump also got more campaign contributions from the bigger carriers and fleet-backed lobbyists that typically make-up the industry’s political spending. The Center for Responsive Politics has reported the trucking industry contributions to be at a preliminary total of $160,000 going to Trump and $114,000 to Clinton. While the CRP says these figures still aren’t the final totals, they are significantly lower than the industry's contributions given to candidates during previous elections.
However in this election, it was also found that trucking contributions awarded to the Senate and House races were in favor of Republicans maintaining control of Congress. In fact according to the numbers, contributions were awarded to Republican candidates over Democrats at a ratio of nearly five to one. In total, Republicans received over $2 million and Democrats just over $430,000. But compared to the 2012 election when Mitt Romney received over $1 million in trucking contributions during his run for president, in this election Senator Ted Cruz was the top recipient of trucking contributions totaling $169,674, and Trump was the second top recipient.
On Wednesday, as the mixed reactions of Americans across the nation made headlines around the world, the American Trucking Associations made a point of showing support for Donald Trump as the new President elect and issued the following public statement:
“The American Trucking Associations congratulates President-elect Trump on his victory. During the campaign, he highlighted the need to create jobs, and recognized that improving our nation’s infrastructure is critical to strengthening the economy. As the industry that moves nearly 70% of our nation’s freight and is a key economic driver, we look forward to working with President-elect Trump on a host of issues, including long-term, sustainable infrastructure funding, tax reform and fair and free trade. We have already begun meeting with the Trump transition team, and look forward to working closely with the new Administration on issues that will allow the trucking industry to continue to grow and move America forward,” said ATA’s president and CEO Chris Spear in the statement.
I don't know but he should appoint me as the commissioner of F.M.C.S.A. , I'll fix the bad drivers and HOV lanes will be for trucks only. And cars will have to yield to trucks. And so on and so on.

Hell I'd even try to reduce fuel taxes and ELIMINATE THE HUT TAX. There not using it to fix the roads anyway. Definitely put up more truck parking by reopening the closed rest areas. And CDL drivers should be allowed to TAKE YOUR TRUCKS HOME and park them on your property. It's your job and the truck is your equipment that you use to work.

Our military freight movement has almost stopped compared to past years! Our military training is down tremendously! They can start with permanently eliminating electronic logs and speed limiters and make law that any broker makes no more than one percent of what the load pays so we can all be making what we should since we are making just about 50% less than what we should be making for the current costs of doing business. Then they can eliminate permanently CARB and the federal excise tax and permanently make into law the lowest price per mile to never be below the national diesel price per gallon.............these would be a good start to making the trucking industry better and much safer.
