Commercial Vehicle Group, a leading supplier of fully-integrated system solutions for the global commercial vehicle market, has announced that its Bistro Seating brand is introducing a new line of truck mattresses featuring Serta technology.  Serta is the number one mattress manufacturer in the United States.

Following the success of their Wide Ride II+Serta suspension seat, Bostrom has again partnered with Serta again to develop a new premium product to the North America and Latin America truck market. Two models of the new Bostrom+Serta truck mattress will be available in various sizes to accommodate the common mattress sizes used in Class 8 trucks with sleeper cabs.  Each mattress has a replaceable zip-on cover and integrated carry straps to make it easy for drivers to move between vehicles:

The 7-series mattress features a top layer of Serta's Cool Action(TM) gel memory foam that provides all the benefits of memory foam technology and helps regulate body temperature.  This results in a more comfortable sleeping experience through all seasons.  The mattress is approximately seven inches thick and provides premium level comfort for truck drivers.

The 4-series mattress features a top layer of advanced memory foam to ensure improved comfort by relieving pressure points and improving weight distribution over the mattress.  The mattress is four inches thick and can be rolled up and carried using integrated carry straps.

Patrick Miller, vice president and general manager of Industrial Market and Parts for Commercial Vehicle Group stated, "We're excited about the opportunity to help drivers find the same quality sleep experience on the road that they have at home.  The Bostrom and Serta teams have created a unique product line as a result of our joint efforts.  Our partnership combines the strengths of two premier companies known for comfort and quality in our respective segments.  Launching a line of mattresses into the North American truck industry helps Bostrom Seating expand its focus on driver well-being.  We will offer our range of mattresses through an extensive dealer network throughout North America and Latin America."

Last week CareTouch Communications, Inc. also announced the launch of a promising new device to help truck drivers with sleep apnea. Specifically designed for commercial trucking companies, the CareTouch360 platform and communication service tracks drivers diagnosed with sleep apnea through a simple user interface that manages and monitors therapy compliance. The system automatically communicates with drivers at predetermined intervals to collect objective data and document compliance.

Proposed Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines state that “drivers should be disqualified immediately or denied certification if they have been found to be non-compliant with their CPAP treatment at any point.”

Matthew Dolph, Vice President of CareTouch Communications, said, “Once diagnosed, a driver's best chance of achieving compliance to therapy is through regular contact. CareTouchâ„¢ uses automated technology and a knowledgeable team of sleep therapy specialists to engage and communicate with drivers. Our goal is to ensure drivers are compliant which we know helps keep them safe on the road.”
