Investigators are working around the clock to track down the assailant who opened fire on a FedEx ground driver with a high-powered rifle in Memphis yesterday. According to the Memphis police, around 4:40pm the FedEx driver of the truck was parked at the intersection of Holmes Road and Malone Road southeast of the Memphis International Airport, when the suspect got out of a gray or silver minivan and fired a shot from a high-powered rifle, striking the driver in the lower body.

The FedEx driver was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and fortunately he has since been upgraded to stable condition. Meanwhile, the suspect is still at large and is described as a black male, 35 - 40 years old and was last seen wearing a Dallas Cowboys jacket. Police say that he is driving a gray or silver 2002 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, tag number TN 633-YKY and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
Carlos Jackson, who lives right around the corner from where the incident took place said, "He was just doing his job, he wasn't expecting that. Now his family has to suffer tonight." FedEx also released a statement saying, “Our first thoughts and concerns are with our colleague and we are cooperating fully with the law enforcement investigation.”
In another unrelated incident this week, an Oklahoma semi-truck driver was stabbed in the chest late Wednesday night at a Nampa, Idaho truck stop.According to Nampa Police, the truck driver’s wife called 911 at 11:06 p.m. to report a stabbing in the rear parking lot of Jacksons Truck Stop at 6th Street North and Northside Boulevard in Nampa.
When officers arrived on the scene, the truck driver told them that he had just stepped out from his truck when he saw another man near the vehicle. The man had said something to him and then attacked him with a knife.Fortunately, the truck driver knocked the knife from his hand and the suspect fled on foot. While the truck driver has been treated for a slash wound to his forearm, police are still searching for the suspected assailant.
The suspect is described as about 18 years old, 5-foot-9 with a medium build and no facial hair. He was wearing a dark hoodie and dark shorts that went past his knees.
