ABF Freight to Send 18 Drivers to National Truck Driving Championships

Earlier today, Fort Smith-based logistics company ArcBest announced that its less-than-truckload division, ABF Freight will send 18 drivers to the 2018 National Truck Driving Championships later this month.

ArcBest reports that in sending their group of professional drivers with a proven safety record to the 2018 National Truck Driving Championships, the company is sending representatives of ABF Freight’s commitment to consistency and safety in the trucking industry.

“These 18 drivers are excellent representatives for ABF Freight and the trucking industry,” said Tim Thorne, ABF Freight president. “I’m very proud of their professionalism and their strong commitment to safety. I wish them the best of luck at nationals.”

Of the 18 drivers ABF Freight will send to the Championships, the competitors work at locations across the country and drive various types of rigs, representing a large geographic sector of ABF’s drivers.

ATA President and CEO Chris Spear reports that the National Truck Driving Championships are a way for professionals in the industry to both prove their driving skills as well as demonstrate overall knowledge of the trucking field.

“Truck drivers are passionate, highly skilled professionals who practice safety on our nation’s highways every day,” said Spear. “For 81 years, we’ve been fortunate to hold an annual competition in order to let these drivers demonstrate their skills and knowledge in a competitive environment.”
